Pat is a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Service, with the mission to help American companies succeed in overseas markets. This work includes providing strategic advice and practical assistance to American businesses seeking to enter or expand in their business abroad and attracting foreign direct investment to the U.S.

Pat recently served as Deputy Senior Commercial Officer in Japan. His previous posting was in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he was the Senior Commercial Officer. Pat also served in New Delhi, India, where he covered the aerospace and defense, homeland security and ICT portfolios and managed the U.S. Government Advocacy caseload; and Tokyo, Japan, where he supervised a team specializing in the construction, defense, transportation, environmental, and energy sectors.

Pat entered the Commercial Service after a career of 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military background includes service in Infantry, Intelligence, and Foreign Area Officer billets, focused on Asia-Pacific security issues. He served multiple tours of duty in Korea and Japan.

Pat is a graduate of The Citadel and Golden Gate University.
